Together we can make a difference

*While basic membership donation was set at $500 to encourage participation, special annual donations are necessary to conduct programs of high impact. In 2024, more than 60% of the program expenses were paid for with special membership donations of between $1,000 to $10,000. Your consideration is greatly appreciated.

Why donate?

  • To preserve and nurture the peaceful, distinctive character of our community for year-round and seasonal residents and visitors.

  • Today we benefit from the thoughtful and generous stewardship of those who came before us. Now it falls upon us whether this legacy will pass to future generations.

  • GHA is an active player in supporting special projects aimed at enhancing the character of the area, and the experience of those who live or visit here.

  • Help protect the island from the increasing number of commercial activities which are incompatible with the traditionally quiet, welcoming, historic, residential character of the area.

  • We are blessed with an abundance of wondrous natural land, water and vistas, all of which are under stress due to the tremendous growth in visitors, vehicular traffic, boating and poor yard maintenance practices.

  • Addressing the safety, inconvenience, and wear and tear on infrastructure, associated with the growing volume and types of vehicular traffic.

“These Americans are a most peculiar people. If they see a problem in their community, they form a committee of citizens to solve it, without any reference to government.”
